2) When i try to open any game from Project 64 1.6 i get the "attempt to open file failed" message but the game does open outside of Mamewah ok.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,

It has to be an issue with your layout. Go to your Mamewah folder and launch Mamewah Layout Editor> File> Open> Go to Mamewah\config\snes folder. Select the file named "layout". Once opened make sure the "Artwork Image #1" is present and located where your screenshots are supposed to be. If not go to Display Objects> Main Form> Artwork Image #1. Then just place it wherever you want.
