I'm mostly through with building my mini Mame cabinet, but can't seem to find an amplifier for the speakers.
This is an EXTREME budget build. I fixed the 19" LCD that was given to me for $5, purchased the 1/2" MDF for about $30 and paid $36 for the USB control adapter. I have 2 joysticks and buttons leftover from another project.... My goal is less than $100, so we'll see!
Anyway, I need an amplifier for the two 4" JBL speakers that I found in my basement. Considering that it's a mini cab, it doesn't need the big booming sound that my larger cabinet has, but I still want something better than pc speakers.
Mine is similar to the weecade here:

I like the amp in the 4th picture but can't seem to find one. I'm probably searching for the wrong info on eBay. Other suggestions are welcome!

Where do you guys get your speakers for an amp like this? Can you give me a few examples?
Thanks!

Any speakers will work, since you've got the red/white on the back of those amplifiers but here's some I commonly procure.

What are the advantages/disadvantages with using a small amp w/ speakers Vs. using a set of pc speakers? I know they're basically the same thing, but people seem to prefer one way or the other.

Depends how much hacking you want to do. With PC speakers you get the Amp and speakers as one. Take it apart and swap cords etc. Additionally people tend to go with PC speakers cause you can get them with amp usually free or for 5-10 bucks used/thrown away. The AMP way will typically get you more Watts and is a good idea if you want TV/Audio come out of the machine too but again, it all depends what you can get.
If you can get your hands on free old pc speakers they would very well.
