Title: Anyone using 1/4" Solar Gray plexi from Tap Plastics?
Post by: mcseforsale on April 20, 2012, 09:55:08 am
I'm tossing around the ideas about glass vs. plexi and noticed that Tap has a 1/4" Solar Gray plexi.  I like the idea of plexi in my rec. room with all those kids and I might be putting a couple of admin buttons on my bezel.

Just wondering if the 1/4" is heavy like glass?

Is it easy to work at that thickness? (I might be drilling it)

How is the solar gray over LCD?

I am using it and it is great.  It is heavy weight and the lcd looks great behind it.  I did not have to drill into it so no help there.

I just bought a sheet of Greylite 31, and it looks amazing in the cab.  Much better than the smoked plexi (no idea what brand or shade) I'd been using.

Only problem was, I couldn't find a glass shop in Atlanta who'd even return my calls... had to get it from a shop in my old hometown in Alabama.

I've used it twice, 1/4".  Easy to drill and cut.  haven't used it over an LCD but don't see how it would be different than over a CRT, which looks awesome.
