This weekend, I started a mini Ms. Pacman cab for my son. it is 48" tall (65% of original).
I am using a 15" pc monitor and a PII 300 for the guts(mame, Dos, ArcadeOS, etc...)
I am at the "fill the gouges and screw holes with wood putty stage) I am in the process of putting up a website that has pics.
The best part about this is last night, my son said he wanted "Pac Man artwork on the sides...so..now its a Ms. Pacman replica cabinet with Pacman artwork on the sides, bezel, CP and Marquee!!
One sheet of MDF did the trick (with the exception of the back and the inside bottom).
I am vectorizing all of the needed art. I will post to the vector library when finished.

I had planned to have more finished today...but...we went to Ikea this-morning. Those of you who have been probably understand. What an experience!
Anyway, I primed and have the first coat of black paint on the mini pac. I need to go buy another sponge roller due to the fact that I broke the current one :) Leave it to me to break a sponge roller!!
I printed the artwork yesterday as well. I decided to use photo satin paper. Most excellent look. I laminated it with floorguard and coated the back with adhesive. I mounted the control panel and drilled thru the metal for the joy and the buttons. I printed Tricky's coin face image - much better than mine in my opinion. Simply changed the colors to match the rest of my Pac Art. Images of the rest of the artwork are in the update as well. (Dominick and Kristy are holding the side panels for the pic.)
Feel free to browse the images (http://www.myuselessprojects.com/dompac/index.html) if you are interested.

Just applied the side panels and coin face. WOW! I cannot wait to finish this thing. I am off to drill the holes for the speaker openings.
Looks like I had one leg longer than the other when I measured for the monitor bezel. I am going to use it for now, but, I will replace the art this week.

That looks great! The side-art really makes the cab.

Tom...
You's is looking pretty cool!
What are you doing for a coin door? It looks like the coin door space was scaled down too... ???
I'm thinking of doing a mini MsPac... Just for the fun of it, probably 4'-6 tall. I should be able to get it all out of 1 4X8 & 1 2X4 of MDF/Ply... (& some 2X2 f/ corners)...
Question...
What's the diference between the Pac & Ms Pac cabs? I always thought they were the same profile, but then I heard some people talking like they were 2 different cabs...
Anyone have any insights?

Thank you. :)
I simply made a black box with rounded corners. All the games in the box are set on free play.

Check out the two side by side (Galaxian and Pacman are the same shape - as well as Galaga and Ms. Pacman)

I had planned to have more finished today...but...we went to Ikea this-morning. Those of you who have been probably understand.
Going to Ikea was the single lowest point in my shopping life.
Parking: 45 minutes (literally)
Shopping/Fighting the mob: 2 hours
Waiting in line: 20 minutes
Finding out the cashier charged us for two of everything: 5 minutes
Getting a refund after being double-charged: 45 minutes
Waiting for the stock crew to get our items from the in-store inventory (a mandatory process): 1 hour
Leaving the depths of Hell I refer to as Ikea: 20 minutes
Going ballistc on a woman who cut me off because I couldn't take any more: priceless (and consequently voiceless because I think I messed up my vocal chords).
Sorry for going off topic...had to vent. Very nice cab BTW - you rock as a builder and more importantly as a Dad.

Gotta ask (hopefully you didn't already answer this):
Who printed the art out, how, and what was the cost? It really looks great.

I printed it at work. It was a freebee. :) The digital imaging manager owed me a favor. I am the IT manager at a reprographics company.

D'oh. The mobo on the domPAC will not keep the bios info. Checked the CMOS battery, jumper, etc... So, a custom bios with "press F1 to continue" disabled.
Applied custom bios.
Hmm....the machine is now FUBAR. I managed to nuke the bios. Known good file will not flash to chip. Off to computer recycle center in the morning for the weekly sale.
Good news! I was able to reflash the bios so now I am back where I started.

Looks like T-molding only sells Pacman orange in 3/4 inch. I made the domPAC out of 5/8 inch MDF. Krylon doesnt make Orange Fusion yet so I had to use the next best thing - a can of plastic primer and orange spray...and I now have orange 5/8 inch t-molding.
:)
Looks like I will be finished Saturday.

The art really makes this stand out, looks very vibrant and crisp. When are we coming over to play test and have some pizza?
