hi
i,d like to make a jamma to scart lead as i,ve always had trouble with monitors over
the years.to be fair i only found out about this not so long ago.have googled and found a few diagrams how
to make them.so just a few questions..
which tv would be good to use..?
and when wiring the scart onto jamma clip ie video sync red, blue, green etc do you solder off the ones that are already on clip
this will be for a jamma cab to use jamma games and might use a j-pac
thx

There are two critical things that must be fulfilled when I search for TV’s to use in my cabinets – remote control and the service menu code.
For most games you need to tweak the settings in the service menu (which is normally hidden) else you will have part of the picture off screen.
And to enter the service menu you will need the remote control.
And of course, some brands are better than others, but for me that comes second in priority.

If you connect a SCART plug directly from the JAMMA connector you need to add some resistors (150 Ohm) since the video signal has a higher voltage than the SCART standard. It could also be convenient to add a + signal so that the TV enters the correct mode automatically (+12V to pin 8 for 4:3 mode and +3V to pin 16 for RGB mode).
The easiest way is to buy a blind SCART plug and add only the leads you need.

Not really sure about the j-pac, so maybe someone else can fill in about what to consider then.

thanks for your reply

By the way, I use this schematic as a reference when I build my adapters.

The text in the article is in Swedish, but shouldn't be that hard to translate with online tools.

as anyone got any pictures of one made up inside scart..
weres the best places to get the parts to make one up ..?
-
Sure, I can post some pictures later.
By the way, where do you live? Couldn’t tell by the limited information in your profile, and this post doesn’t say either.
To be very general I would say EBAY for getting the parts needed, but there might be local vendors.

hi
west midlands...uk

I suppose Farnell has everything you need.
Here is a SCART plug, for example:

Another supplier might be Velleman, and I’m sure there are others in the UK as well. Have no idea who's the cheapest.

when soldering resistors do you solder them straight on the pin on scart...?then solder wire off resistor..?
-
Exactly, I usually do like that. And then fixate and insulate it with hot glue.
I was home to late yesterday so I’ll try to post pictures today.

ok cheers

Here is one of the adapters I have made. As told previously, there is a lot of glue, but you get the picture I think.
I'm about to build another one (maybe tonight) that can be doucmented before I put on the glue, if you like?

ok cheers for that
