I've done a bit of work on my control panel, basically it had pre cut holes so I have plated behind and used auto filler. It looks good & is strong but i was wondering - is it necessary to prime before I apply the control panel overlay? I wonder how the adhesive would stick to the auto filler... Any thoughts?
cheers

It's not necessary if you're using an adhesive. I would scuff it up with some 150 grit. Are you using an overlay that has adhesive on it or are you using a contact cement/3m spray?

I primed mine, if nothing else to give a little more uniformity to the texture & color under the overlay.

Its adhesive backed, thanks for the advice :applaud:

I've done it both ways. Someone screamed that you should always prime before layering adhesive on but at the end of the day, I really didn't know a difference. In the end the adhesives were strong enough where they held through.
