I finally broke down and picked up a 360 simply to be able to play Rocksmith. I'd rather see the kids play an actual guitar than Guitar Hero. Well, that and the fact that Guitar Hero makes me look a fool. I'll probably pick up a few additional titles as well. What are some of your "must have" games. Especially older games that are now cheaper but still great. I was told Left 4 Dead fits this bill. Not really concerned about kids games since they have more than enough Wii titles.

What sort of games do you like? Are you talking about games exclusive to the 360?
Bioshock is great, the Halo games are fun, Gears of War is cool, Mass Effect is cool.

I have a pretty broad range of tastes. Shooters, racing, RPG, platformers, schmups, etc. Not necessarily 360 exclusive. I have no plans to own a PS3 and don't really bother with PC gaming much. So cross platform too.

RPG - Mass effect series. If you like old school, open world dungeons and dragons type stuff, Elder Scrolls: oblivion is fun, and if you can find Skyrim cheap, you will have 6 months of your life gone. IF you like post apocalyptic stuff, the fallout games are fun
Action RPGish games - Red Dead Redemption is fun, Borderlands is fun.
Action - Batman Arkham Asylum is supposed to be good, as is the new one
Figthing games - Get Soul Caliber 4, its still fun. Virtua figher 5 can be found for under ten bucks, Tekken 6 is cheap. Get MK9, best figthing game ever, and SSFIV is great too.
If you like driving/racing games, get Forza IV, hands down the best racing game. ever. EVER

trials HD. King of fighters 13.
And yeah get red dead redemption, it's awesome. And fallout 3.
-
Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved 2 - cheap, 4 people
Gatling Gears - cheap, 2 people, blow up lots of stuff
Indy:
Score Rush - cheap as dirt, 4 people, fast paced
Bird Assassin - cheap as dirt, funny.....worth a buck for one play through......"they killd my pa!"

One for each

Tons of negative reaction to the Mass Effect 3 ending, but I'm guessing that doesn't alter their opinion of the actual gameplay, which is high.

I lost 100 hours to Fallout 3 and am currently playing New Vegas, at least 60 hours in.
Now is a great time with all the Game of the Year packages (Fallout, Borderlands, Red Dead etc.) and games you can get for a song (the first couple Gears of War, Bioshocks, etc.). I'm a latecomer to 360 (maybe a year and a half ago, I got one) and the price/entertainment ratio is ridiculous.
I will also recommend Burnout Paradise as far as a modern arcade-y (in the non-sim sense) racer, if you can find a copy, and Dead Space is a great sci-fi horror shooter.
