Title: Well well well, arcadecontrols.com payed off
Post by: mastahkaz on September 29, 2003, 12:28:05 am
Well i just finished the construction on my controller.  My original idea was to make two controllers and a supergun so i could play my PCB's at home.  I recently had to move back into my parents houes for a few months so i have to keep my cabinet in storage.

I got pretty much any info I need from this site, i didnt even need to post any messages because people had already pretty much covered anything i needed.

I think it came out pretty well.  I used 3/4" laminated MDF, HAPP pushbuttons & comp joystick, and black t-molding around the edges. I kind of went off the MAS design but made up the deminsions by myself.  I think the MAS stick is too deep so i made this onea little less so it fits nicely on my lap.  I put the buttons up higher so my wrist would still have room to rest.  I think for my next one i'm going to buy some differnt colored fomica and laminate it myself.

I already have a friend who wants one.  I may try and sell some more in the future, my daytime job is a graphic designer so i should be able to do some cool stuff with graphics (since thats what a lot of people seem to be into).

well the white is just white because its my "prototype" like i said on the next one im buying colored laminate.  Green and gold are my fav colors which is the reason for that.

The clean up job on the pic could have been better considering you are a graphic designer ;)
Otherwise looks good.

Welcome noobert !

I'm glad you guys like.  I wired it up to my Dreamcast last night and it works like a champ.

You may be one of the first posters who completed a project while still having the "Newbie" tag under your name.    Then again, what would I know -- I've only been here two months.

Very nice, simple and effective.  Kudos.

Oh yeah?

OK, it's not as pretty as Mastahkaz's up there, and it's not a full cab, but hell, I've only got like 5 posts!  And at least my foot's not in it...

This is my prototype control panel, which I threw together to see how a few things worked before moving on to bigger and better things.  I never bother to post because everyone else has either asked the question before me, or knows more than I do and answers other peoples' questions better than I can.  I bet there are a lot of us who lurk but build.

I like the color scheme ... lol ... call me crazy  ;D

Supergun .... I got one myself ... what did you use as your RGB -> NTSC convertor (model ... site ... I'm looking for one that gets along better with Primal Rage ... my current one absolutely hates that board (only board it refuses to play correctly) ... extremely hard to dial in the picture without it rolling or going to black and white)

How about a pic of the whole system in action  :) (I want to see!!!!  :D )

I guess i didnt mention this in the original post.  I havnt made the supergun yet.  See my plan was to wire it to a JAMMA harness and build a supergun, but i liked the control so much i couldnt wait and wired it to my dreamcast.  But I will begin construction on my supergun soon and i'll keep you posted.  As for what parts i'm going to use, i dont really know.. i havnt put that much thought into it yet.  And what RGB to NTSC converter are you using that doesnt work with PR?

... thats just it ... I'm not really sure what brand it is ... lol

no real identification on it (got it off eBay) ... anyway ... it does a nice job with all my PCB collection except my PR boards from Atari ... weirdest thing I've ever encountered ... doesn't matter what version either (I have three of version 1.7 and two of version 2.3 and they both do the same thing)

... I'm guessing it has something to do with the boards themselves ... the way there designed ... just a guess  ;D
