Title: Why oh Why i-Pac 4?
Post by: mcseforsale on April 08, 2012, 09:37:38 am
I've had the iPac 4 for a few years and used it to build my 48" monster that never found a home in a cab....now, I'm trying to build a Knievel CP and the damn thing is waaaayy too big.  I want to do an LEDWiz, too, but real-estate is, well,...at a premium.

Damn.  What to do?

Looks like you have a ton of room in that box.  What's the issue?

+1 on that.

You don't have to mount the ipac on the underside of the control panel you could mount it anywhere.

I ended up slapping both my LEDWiz units and another encoder on the inside of the cabinet with the wires feeding through to the panel. I was going to add some sort of quick disconnect system (like an IDE cable or something) but I got lazy.

But as the others have said, you look to have plenty of room to work with.

The top pic is my 48" x 19" CP that I just disposed of.  The bottom one is the 33 x 15 one that I just built.  Here's a better pic:

That iPac is fugging HUGE!  :dizzy:

I'll have an Opti-pac, and iPac-4 and an LEDWiz (or pac-led) once I'm done.

I'm also going to be using solid-core wires, so...

you're fine on room.  mount the interfaces on the bottom of the box like I did if you're worried, although given the size of your cp top I would undermount them. nothing needs much clearance, things can be close together.

I went with inside the cabinet for my interface boards. http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=108719.msg1226171#msg1226171 (http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=108719.msg1226171#msg1226171)
