Title: Casino arcade games
Post by: Vigo on April 03, 2012, 02:45:01 pm
I'd love to see this trend take off, I guess Bally is working on putting out some classic video games designed for casinos. They already released a skee ball game and some space shooter. (Kinda hope they bump it up a notch for future releases)

It is interesting the method they try to combine skill and luck to make the games be legally considered gambling:

Quote
Instead of pulling a handle or punching a button, players use the touch screen to flick virtual balls down the lane, up the ramp and into the target holes, as a scoreboard rings up their points. The game even awards animated ticket rolls, just like the real arcade game.

That's the skill part. Here's where the chance comes in.

Players take those virtual tickets to shelves of prizes. They can pick a drawing of a kazoo, a yo-yo and other toys they might find in an arcade. When they touch the prize, it registers how many points that prize is worth, and how much money the players win.

I might actually enjoy going to a casino much more if they had these. Although, I doubt any of these games will use a real joystick. I have a hunch everything they make is gonna be touchscreen.

Yeah, I know....unimpressive first releases. Kinda look like tablet games. I would still take these above the bat ---steaming pile of meadow muffin--- confusing 3000 line slots games where you push a button until your money is gone, but it is still a trend in the right direction, IMO.

Nothing worse than sitting at your favorite Keno machine sinking $50 in it, then some ignorant jerk comes along, sitting next to you, blowing cigarette smoke in your face.

My top number one reason why I do not go into Casinos in Vegas anymore (and maybe that I'm 6K miles away...).  So if I can sit on my nickle keno machine at home, I'm all for it.

Cocktail!   ;D
