Post by: walls83 on September 28, 2003, 12:14:42 pm
Ive shared files before from XP to 2000 but for some reason I cant get the computers to see each other with XP and 98.  I have the Cat5 cable connected to them but they just dont see each other.. Any advice on how to get this to work..?  Thanks

The easiest way is use XP to create a network setup disk, then run the disk on the win98 machine, works great.

I'm assuming when you say you have cat5 connecting the 2 pc's, that you're either using a crosspver cable, or through a router, not just a straight piece of cat5 between the 2 network cards?

One easy way is to just setup a ftp server on the xp comp and connect with the 98, if you just want to transfer files that is.
