Hi, I'm about to shell Xp to my frontend and wondered if there was a way to have all the bios/bootscreen the wrong way up.
Let me explain, I'm using a cocktail with monitor upside down (for the better viewing angle), this auto rotates when Windows starts, so not a problem but can't seem to figure out how to do it pre-Windows Xp?
Forgive me if it's already been posted (which I'm sure it has), I just can't find it using search..

just edit the boot screen and FLIP IT ;D (use PAINT to do it or any paint picture editor like PaintShop pro).

If you're talking about the BIOS bootscreen itself, you're pretty much out of luck.
I believe I've seen one instance of a guy who actually modified the bios boot image in the BIOS file and reflashed the BIOS, but that's +way+ beyond what most people do, I'm guessing.
I've never seen any tools to help with that process either. I wouldn't have a clue where to start to even pick out where the image was in the BIOS file, much less modify it.

Thanks for the replies guys.
I was kind of on about both. Yup looks like a paint jobby for the bootscreen then :)
Also, I know that in some motherboards you can turn off the bios bootscreen (which I think the one I'm using has), but I mean't all the bios info.
That was less important than the bootscreen though, I'll live with it! ;D

FWIW I recommend against shelling XP. Most of the changes you would be looking to make by shelling can be done within the current XP settings and don't require a shell. Keeping XP as is has a lot of benefits that are made more difficult to access by shelling IMO. Changing boot screens, removing cursors, and direct launch to a FE are all possible without shelling. I used to shell all the time when I was using gamelauncher back in '04 but once I stopped and just started making adjustments to the XP environment I haven't looked back.

theres a post to complety hide windows 7, wich i recomende better, one of the thing i like about this hidiing W7 enviroment its the ability to use ananimated image on the bootscreen, that with a bit of imagination you can rotate to your desired so i can look nice on your cocktail cab. If interested just search for topic Hide windows 7 In this forum.

I've shelled Xp before (got a bartop) without problems. This was specifically a question regarding the bootscreen because my monitor is rotated (for viewing angle). But, if i can change everything as I have my bartop booting without shelling I'd be up for that, but if I can even see a hint of Xp it will bug me ;)

Double post.

One other option would be to leave the monitor turned off until the bios screen is finished.
Maybe a timer or turn on a comport or printer port output after windows loads? Then that output turn on a relay. Relay turn on monitor.
I have often thought about doing that, but what would really be neat is to switch the monitor to some kind of video generator with a picture fed to the monitor, then switch monitor back to computer when windows finishes loading.
Pip dream number 56789.

I also had an idea like that previously. Some one needs to get on this!

Intel has tools available to change your bios start screen. That's what I did. Extremely simple.

Or just hibernate rather than shutdown, don't have to see anything. Works with Mala, did you mention what FE you were using?
