Well, everybody was raving about the slikstik tornado spinners being awesome, and indeed mine was when I got it. I spun and it went for three minutes the first time!
But, now I'm noticing that if I ever want to let go of the spinner and readjust my hand position, it's always got this slow drift in one direction from my fingers brushing against it on their way off. It kills my Tempest game, and even makes Tron a little bit hard to play. It's so frictionless that it actually hurts gameplay, and I'm wondering if spinners shouldn't have some friction to them, and spin to a stop after a second or two. I remember spinning the crap out of the original Tron game, and it only lasted for about two seconds.
So, am I alone in this criticism? or is there a fix I should try?

This is why the big "WOOHOO IT SPINS FOREVER!" push that Slik-Stik makes about the Tornado does nothing for me. I'll take "gameplay" over "spin time" any day, thanks.
(Not to disparage Slik-Stik or the people that like the Tornado. To answer your question though, grafix, I don't know if there's a "fix", since that's how (to my knowledge) the Tornado is SUPPOSED to be. Maybe get a hold of their support and ask them?)

The constant frictionless spin of the Tornado is both a blessing and curse -- the best way I've found to counteract the easy spin is just to keep a good grip on the knob (brilliant, huh?)
Seriously, I think the type of knob can make a difference -- I personally like both SlikStik's skirted knob and Oscar Control's Tempest reproduction knob. Both have a skirted area that you can keep your fingers resting on lightly, allowing you to spin and yet stop and reverse quickly without losing control.
Another good knob is Oscar's DOT reproduction knob, which has the embedded knurling. As long as you maintain a light touch on the knob, you have full control.
In some ways, it's just something you have to adjust to, and it's something to keep in mind when buying a spinner.
I really like the frictionless feel of the spin, but I have "spiked" myself several times by letting go of the spinner inbetween boards on Tempest and having the spinner drift ever so slightly! :(
