Title: Alternative Hyperspin Startup Video
Post by: GregD on March 28, 2012, 10:18:46 am
Has anyone created an alternative Hyperspin startup video?  I am looking for something a little different than the included video.  I saw some cool ones on Youtube and figured someone here might have created one.

Here is one that looks pretty good.

I'd like to replace the default MAME intro video.  It's way too 90s biased.  Seriously, Michael Jackson's Moonwalker and no Pacman or Centipede?

OK.   Sorry?

I was just kidding about. I created the music for the Hyperspin intro video, hence my post  :lol

The whole intro video is awesome,  but just like I need a new car every three years,  I am looking to change it up a little.   Good job on the music.

That youtube one is pretty cool...why don't you just rip it from youtube to replace the hyperspin one?

Maybe I'm lame but I turn off the intro vid. I think I would go crazy waiting for a 1 minute video each time I started it up. I know you can skip it but still. You could spend that minute browsing through looking for a random cool game to try out.

It is really just eye candy for guests.  It is easily skipped.  I thought that ripping from youtube yields low quality video.  Maybe I will try it out.

I have set up hyperspin to skip the intro video also...

You can get good quality youtube videos - it just depends on how it was uploaded. If the user uploaded crappy quality (240p), obviously you can't download it in good quality. I just had a look and you can download this video at 480p (not too bad). Some videos on youtube can get up to 1080p (very good quality)

How do you skip the video, other than in the configuration settings? Hitting a certain button to skip would be ideal.

There is an option in the HyperHQ that allows for the skipping of the video if any button/joy is pressed.

Nice! I haven't installed Hyperspin yet, may play with it once my current build is ready for it.

I would start playing with it now if I were you. If you want to get hyperspin looking great, it takes a bit of time. It is not really hard, just time consuming. I have heard of some people spending 200hrs getting hyperspin set up the way they want it. You have to download each game theme, movie, wheel art etc INDIVIDUALLY. You then have to place each one of these in the correct folder and rename each file to the EXACT name of your ROM.

You can make the process quicker by buying a subscribtion to hyperspin and emumovies (this will give you access to download entire packages of movies, themes etc). There are also some free packages if you look around
