Title: New MAME multiplayer player selection menu - Cocktail Connection

Hey everyone.  Here is the link to a new software for 1 or 2 player mame systems.  It will read the xml file contained (or your own) to bring up a dynamic menu system to allow player 1 and 2 to select whatever players they would like to use.  I got really tired of doing "tab" menu changes to change the button layout for my daughter and her friends when they were playing games, this will do it for you on the fly.  Try it out and please give some feedback as this is my first offering to the community.  Try it out http://www.cocktailarcadeconnection.com (http://www.cocktailarcadeconnection.com)  It is only available on windows systems at the moment.  It works for traditional one monitor arcades and also has a cocktail modes, both are previewed below.

That's pretty awesome man!  I started on something like that years ago, but realized there wasn't much point seeing as how my cab is 2 player only.

You do know that both of those games have 2 player variants that allow you to select the characters at the start right?

xmen2pa for X-Men and simpsons2p for the Simpsons. 

I think there are a few games that don't let you select the characters though.  Sorry but I don't have a list.

Yes, I do lol.  There are lots of others though, NBA Jam, tecmo bowl just to name a couple.  I know there may not be a huge demand out there but I figured I would give something back to a community that has given me a lot :).  I just hope that it works for someone out there.

This is great!  I'm definetly going to be installing this week.  I'll let you know what I think, especially since I never took the time to go get all the 2p roms that Howard mentioned  ;D

Ok man, as long as you know.  On two or three occasions guys in the past have asked me to write something like this, but as soon as I explained that the konami games had 2-player variants they didn't want it.  ;)

It seems quite useful to me.  My suggestion would be to use the player selection graphics from the 2p variants whenever possible, that way it looks more seamless.

I should be posting a patch tonight.  My 7 year old found a bug that I didn't test for lol.  The two and one player games are not rewriting button configs.  I will post when it is up on the website :)

Cocktail Connection v1.0 patch has been released.  This patch will take care of a problem with 1 and two player games not writing configurations.  Download from http://www.cocktailarcadeconnection.com (http://www.cocktailarcadeconnection.com).  Instructions are on site.  Post any problems here.  Thanks :)
