Title: Intruction cards/stickers?
Post by: Rando on March 05, 2012, 03:16:13 pm
Hey all,
Wondering which of you put some type of instructions on how to use the cab on or around your Bezel.  If so, what's it look like/what do you say?

I think I need one but not sure how deeply I want to explain things.

I will be doing something like this to mine. Everytime my wife and I leave for vacation my sister and boyfriend stay at our place to watch the dog. they always call with questions about how to do this and that.

The last cab I gave to a friend I built him a small pamphlet of the intricacies of the cab with pictures and explanations.  I also used some stickers on the CP so you knew what buttons did what.

I usually like to give away a pamphlet about the cab.  That way I don't get called by friends.

I made an instruction card-type bezel for my first machine, and I'm looking to swap it out. The problem is that when I first made it, I had all these grand designs that it would host all these games and emulators, but now I just run MAME/Daphne on it, so all the info I have regarding emulators is inaccurate. Also, I've seen people print up bezels with lists of games, but this really only works if you aren't planning on adding any more games.

I plan on going the pamphlet route, that way if things need to be changed I don't have to worry about updating a bezel which can be a pain in the butt.

Pamphlet is the best idea.  It can get lost and is a bit cumbersome but it gives you the space to explain everything in detail which is nice.  Gives a nice professional appearance when you say, "well lets just check the manual shall we".  They can be as involving to make as the cab itself though.

Lol,
All I wanted to see were some decals that some folks used, and you want me to write up a manual?  Ouch! :D

Exactly.  I only use instruction cards on my Pinball machines.   ;D

I found a instruction strip/card online for Cadillacs and Dinosaurs and proceeded to photoshop it for work with my cab.  Did it just for fun as it doesn't fit with my theme but turned out pretty good IMO.  Would probably add color if I was actually going to use it.
