Title: Headphones on cab.
Post by: AlienInferno on March 05, 2012, 01:19:35 am
I'm wanting to install a headphone jack on my cab so I can play at night without waking everybody in the house.  My sound system didn't have one originally.  I still want to be able to control the volume with the knob so do I just install a jack between the amp and speakers?  I'm guessing a TRS plug and jack so I can still listen in stereo.  Also which is what?  Is T - left channel, R - right channel, and S - ground?

So you are worried about the noise from the game, but the sound of you banging buttons and firing off haduken's won't wake people?

For the headphone jack, where is your volume control for your speakers?  Assuming it is internal to the speakers somewhere, then you would simply need to tap into the source going from your computer to the amp.  No reason to amply headphones, I think.

Smashing buttons won't wake people as easily as the sound will.  So yes to that question.

The volume control is part of the right side speaker.  I have thought about extending the pot though so it's in a better location.  Speaking of which I might have just thought of my answer.  If I am extending out the pot to a different location I could just put the headphone jack on the output of the pot.  Yes?  That way when the headphones are plugged in it will bypass the speakers and send the audio to the headphones while still keeping the volume control working.  At least that's how it's working in my head right now.
