Hello,
I'm new to your forum and have some newbie questions. Getting up and running with an Ultimarc Jpac interface on an arcade cabinet.
I've recently setup the latest MAME .138 which came from the mamedev site.
and i can't figure out how to run Berzerk and Frenzy.
The roms work in other mame versions.
and in this setup i can run robotron, smash tv, galaga, etc.
the berzerk and frenzy say roms are missing but i have complete working copies of them.
ideas? thank you.

The most recent version of Mame is .145. Here's the link:
http://mamedev.org/release.html (http://mamedev.org/release.html)
You'll need to make sure that your roms match the version of Mame that you are running. That means, if you're running .138 Mame, your roms need to be that version too. Or if your roms are a different version, match that same version of Mame.
Maws isn't working but it was an on-line database for changes to Roms within Mame. It would have easily told us if something changed for the two games, when it changed, and when it was fixed.

actually, that's where i got it and i miscommunicated. i believe i have 145.
haven't been able to figure out where to find version specific roms....the main locations don't list per version.
apparently there is something i don't yet understand about how to match roms to the mame version...

It's not easy to match them if the sites don't list what version they are. You can't look at the file and say this is a particular version so that doesn't help. You can use a rom scanner to covert your roms to another version but it's not the easiest thing especially if you're new to rom mgmt.
Just Google a few sites. You'll eventually find your pleasure and have a site that lists the version of the roms.
