Title: Living with an Arcade monitor and a ArcadeVGA card. Help.
Post by: leapinlew on February 26, 2012, 12:31:00 pm
Many of you know I have built a lot of cabs, but only recently have I started using a real arcade monitor with a ArcadeVGA card. After speaking with several people and reading some posts, I wanted to run my experiences past you guys and see if those of you using a arcade monitor have the same experiences I have.

My hardware: Well Gardner K7000 25" and a ArcadeVGA PCI-e card
My software: I'm running an older version of mame, but it's not ancient. I belive it's in the 96 or 105 neighborhood. It's the version right before they quit using HI files to record the high score.

My issues are mostly settled around resolution.

My question: is this how it is with a real arcade monitor and AVGA card? If so, I may switch to a tri-sync like I use on my vertical cabinet. I've used a TV in the past, and it used to trim some games, but it had much more compatibility than this arcade monitor does. If there are settings I need to change, I'd sure love to hear them.

Have you run the AVRES utility which has a link on the ArcadeVGA install page on our site? This should correct these issues.

No I have not. Cool! I'll try it when I get home.

Just looked for it. I couldn't find a program called AVres. I found Quickres, and switchres. I'm currently using Quickres.
