Hi,
I am considering purchasing the X-Arcade stick for use with the PS2. I want to be able to play games that use the left analog stick.
My question is, how well does the X-Arcade stick mimick the Dual Shock 2's left analog stick?
For example, in the game Gitaroo Man, one rotates the left analog stick and on screen, a pointer sweeps in a smooth, full 360-degree circular motion.
However, the X-Arcade is advertised as a "digital 8-way" stick. Does that mean when I rotate it in a circular motion, the pointer on screen will sweep but stop abruptly at 8 distinct directions? That's what I don't want. Thanks for any information.

um it doesn't mimmick the left stick at all just the d-pad

It mimicks the d-pad, left analog, and right analog sticks.

The key word here is "mimicks". X-Arcade uses a digital stick. When you press in any of the 8 directions, it simulates full pressure in that direction on the analog stick. Thus, its not really analog anymore (meaning you don't have fine control). If the game you like is playable like this than go for it. Just to give you another example, if you tried to play maximo with the x-arcade, maximo would only be able to move in a full out run in every direction. There would be no way to make him walk (thus making the game mostly impossible to play).

Hey,
So for example in Maximo, would he be able to run between the eight cardinal directions? Like, NNE or SSW? That's all I really wanna know, pressure sensitivity doesn't matter to me, although that was good to know. Thanks guys.

I don't think so.... its an 8 way stick....
which means it can only go 8 way....
no NNE.... or SSW.... only the main 8 directions....

No you will only be able to move it in those 8 directions. Its a regular 8-way stick. But don't let this discourage you. You would be suprised by how good it feels for analog stick games. The bad part is the lack of pressure control.
