Post by: hotman on February 23, 2012, 04:46:53 pm
Hi guys been reading these forums for a while now and thought it was about time i had a go at making a mame cabinet. After some thought i decided on a 2player bartop to play Sf2,mvsc,last blade 2 ect.My pc to run it will be a 10" nootbook with a broken screen, I orderd an arcade button/joystick kit and some tmolding from Gremlin Solutions and a slot cutter from wealden tools luckly i have a good mate whos a carpenter. I could not find any plans i liked so i just sketched it out and hoped for the best anyway here are some pics of it so far hope you all like it

How wide is your bartop.  You will probably need about 20 inches of CP to fit in a SF2 button layout.

Great start on your build, hotman!

Have you decided on a theme, or color combination yet?

(Keep the pics coming!   ;D)

How do you plan on powering on the notebook? I quit using laptops as there wasn't a good way to power them on when the system was powered on.

Sounds like a good size for a 2 player panel.  :D

Hi all got it painted today but I have got a cut edge at the front that's a bit lighter than the rest of the paintwork.  I also got hold of an old pc to run mame that's a lot faster then the notebook that I was gona use and it runs killer instinct no probs  ;D sorry all my pics are crap but I'm using my phone to take them and upload to this forum. Any tips on what I can do to the light edge would be cool and here are some pics.

Nice.  Looks like an efficient bartop unit indeed.  Have you played on it yet?  Does it feel crowded with the two players?

Yea I was playing sf2 and killer instinct last night with my son. It's 24" wide so its fine to play if we both sit slightly to the side
