Title: Virtua Fighter 2 ---> Mame
Post by: Coffein on September 24, 2003, 04:53:18 pm
Hi All

I am just starting on a conversion projekt with my VF 2 cab. I will go with arcadeVGA since the NANAO 29" monitor is switchable from 25 khz to 15 khz.

My problem is, can i use the exsisting power supply ? I would also like to use the audio amplifier, because the speaker sound great and can play really loud and have a ok sound. Or should i make a pure PC solution inside with no use off the exsisting 12v supply and speaker amplifier ?

I will leave the original in the CAB, then i always can bring it back to the beginning. There is plenty of space to mount a PC MOBO, HD inside the cab, without removing things from the original.

I have the same cab and kept the Nanao Monitor at Medium Resolution with a Trident Blade 64 card.  I get alot better picture than the Arcade Card since I am at a high resolution. The only problem is that on higher resolutions I get a little flicker with interlace issues.  You might want to take a look at that route.

Virtual Fighter 2 has a great looking cabinet, wouldn't it be nice if someone would take the time to get and post the original cab dimensions (http://www.arcadecontrols.org/yabbse/index.php?board=1;action=display;threadid=11347).

I ask if it will be int he original cab because you could then run BOTH pcb and computer in the cabinet :)  Use something like multijamma, jpac, and arcadevga :)

Superdude, then you are running alot of games in strech mode ? What software are you using to get you Trident to funktion with the monitor.

If i use the arcadeVGA will it be nescessary to use the Ultimarc video amplifier ?

Do you have any pictures inside the cab of you modifactions ?

I used Easy Mame Cab CD as base install.  It has advmame and advmenu for Medium Resolution Monitors using a Trident Blade 64 Card.  The card is 36.45 shipped.
I was able to program all resolution through Advmame without stretching for most games.  It looks really nice, except you will have interlacing on a few games.

If you are going to use the Arcade VGA card you will need to switch the monitor to 15khz.    You will not need a jpac, however it is easy to wire if you have one.  The arcade VGA card is a very good card and I own one.  I have not plugged the monitor straight from the pc.  I do not know if it needs an amplifer.  I doubt it does since the monitor is a newer type.
