Once again, I know this is probably the wrong section... my apologies ahead of time.
I have a Toshiba satellite M45 that won't power on even with AC attached. Tried moving itsHD to my Fujitsu 5112 so I could move files I need to a hard drive, but no luck as connection is different.
What options do I have for getting those files that I need?
-
get an external USB casing (find out whats the HD's interface first).

It is most likely a SATA disk. Is there 2 flat connectors, one with 7 pins and one with 15 pins?
If so, something like this should work just fine.

These can be had at most computer stores. Probably not for that price though.
When trying to copy files, you will also probably run into an "ownership" issue thats fairly easy to resolve.
See this KB article.

Actually Richard, it's one long connector (sorry didn't count pins.)
-
What you mention sounds like it might be an adapter.
Could it look like this? Some connectors have pins going right across. (No black space as in this picture)

The hard drive interface on an M45 is IDE. Get an external IDE Caddie designed for 2.5" IDE Drives and plug it into that.
