Title: Specs for emulation box
Post by: starwarsfan54321 on February 08, 2012, 05:43:40 pm
I recently wanted to build a emulation box after I finish my first arcade cab, does anyone have any ideas for specs I would need to emulate the N64 or Dreamcast, if there is a big jump in specs from the N64 to Dreamcast, I do not need to have the Dreamcast.

I used to mess about with emulating consoles, especially the dreamcast.  I found that it was a losing game, so I just use the real thing.

I guess it depends on the games you want to play.  I have only a 5 so disc swaps are not so a chore.

Anything earlier is just hit and miss (and tweak).

Can you break down exactly what an emulation box is.

Is this a computer that is designed to only run emulators for consoles?  Possibly in cabinet or small form factor?

Yep, pretty much.

I did one of these....it was primarily for older games though.....It could handle most N64, games like perfect dark were choppy and slow, but Zelda Ocarina played perfect.

I bet that the one that Burgerking Diamond did would be able to handle DC and the likes of that, he had higher specs on his computer.
