Title: Mame cfg files different now?
Post by: brad808 on February 07, 2012, 10:36:26 am
So last night i upgraded my cabinet from mameui 0.141 to mameuihi 0.145. None of my cfg files worked properly so i had to redo some dip switches on games and inputs on mortal kombat etc.

I noticed that the inputs on mortal kombat are p1 high punch instead of p1 button one.

My question is did the cfg files change between 0.141 and 0.145 or did they switch because i changed mame versions mameui vs mameuihi

Not a huge deal they do still work i just had to redo them and would like to know for future upgrades if it'll be easier to stick with mameuihi or if there is no problems switching to other mame varients.

Every time they do a change in what they call the controls in a particular game, or major changes of certain kinds (I can't say, but they've been doing a lot lately, particularly in C++ing things), that can happen. Just have to re-do the settings.

Btw.... this is why people like myself and URebelScum have reccomended that you use ctrlr files instead for YEARS.

Cfg files becomes invalid at the change of the hat..... Meanwhile I'm still using my ctrlr files from 6 or 7 years ago.

Well, there are other things in the CFG files now, too.
