Title: Off-Road Static Sound
Post by: albrigsr on February 04, 2012, 07:26:26 pm
All,
I purchased a Ivan Stewart's Offroad (Track Pack I believe as it has Dune Buggies and Trucks) several years ago.  It has sat in my garage as I need to remvoe another game from my insde arcade room before I can move it in.  In any case, the sound has always had a great deal of static.  Everything else works fine except for that issue.  You can still hear the sound but it has constant static whether the music is on or not.  Can anyone provide me some thoughts on how to fix this problem?  Thanks!

does it have a volume pot?  They can get dirty and cause static...

CW,
Thanks for the response.  I think I bought a quarter pusher game from you years ago in Austin.  Does that sounds right?  Anyway, it does have a POT.  I will check it.  I think I remove the wires and directly connected them to take the POT out of the equation and it still had static but let me check and get back with you.

CW,
I bridged the two wires and get the same static.   Any other thoughts?

As a follow-up, I bought a new power supply from Tornado Terry and installed it.  It solved the problem!

I ended up selling after a few years as I didn't have enough room for some other games.  I took a bath on it as I sold it at an auction in Dallas for $40.  I dropped it off and couldn't stay so I'm not sure if everything was simply going low or what.
