Hello,
is there a way to configure LedBlinky so that you can turn certain LEDs on or off, with a keypress?
What I want to do is override the "active controls input", for example when you have games that don't light up the joysticks automatically but you want them to light up anyway, you'd press a certain key/button and the leds for the joysticks light up. (for example)
OR
is there a general setting that allows you to program the joystick LEDs to light up for EVERY game, regardless of the controls settings for each separate game?
It's mostly an aesthetics matter, because for some games the joysticks just don't light up and it's so much prettier if they do ::)

Yes - you can use the LEDBlinky Controls Editor to set the joysticks to light for every game. Here's the basic intsructions;
- Select "MAME" from the Emulator panel and then double-click "<default>" from the ROM/Game panel.
- If you don't have a <default> ROM/Game entry for MAME, click the "New" button and then check the "Default" box.
- From the "Common" controls tab you'll need to add a new control for each type of joystick config (4way, 8way, etc.). Just make sure to check the "Always Active" box and that should do it.

ooh thanks! I'll do this first thing tonight when I return home.
If I'm not mistaken, I can do the same thing for the pause & quit buttons? (these never light up in any game although I have defined them in the editor)

Yes - same can be done for the pause (UI_PAUSE) and quit (UI_CANCEL) buttons.

it doesn't seem to work for me: I added a 2way, a 4way and 8way joystick to the "common" tab of the <default> but nothing changes when I save and go to Hyperspin.
-I don't need to enter anything in the 1p/2p tab? Only common, right?
-I just added the 2/4/8way joysticks, selected "LED on" and clicked the "always active" checkbox
Do I also need to define somewhere which led to light up? Because there isn't anything I can change in those windows. (the led selection dropdown is only for testing purposes if I understand correctly)
What am I doing wrong? :(
thanks in advance

hmmm, not sure why it's not working for you - I'll need to take a look at some log information. Turn on the debug.log and verbose options (misc options tab), run HS and a game or two, then email me the debug.zip file from the ledblinky folder.
