Morning, everyone. After deciding to return to XP64 (seeing how I can add games in Maximus Arcade), I've been trying to read through the manual to my XM2960. Unfortunately, I'm a bit confused as to what needs to be edited in the configuration file for VMMaker to ensure all the modes generated from Calamity's driver won't blow something up. As the monitor lists several entries for the scan frequencies and porches at different resolutions, are there any other XM2960 owners that are more capable at deciphering the numbers?
-
Is that manual available? I'd like to have a look.

Here ya go, Calamity. http://www.jurai.net/~jjpatt/forsale/NEC_XM29.pdf (http://www.jurai.net/~jjpatt/forsale/NEC_XM29.pdf) I somehow managed to at least get some double-scan stuff going for games like Virtua Fighter, Paperboy, and Super Sprint (Either 1024x768 or 996x768). It's just for actual low-res modes for emulators (and games like Rom Check Fail), I'm still confused on it.

Given I really have no idea how to read this stuff, I'd rather not risk just adding something I've no idea about and risk damaging something.
-
Don't pay attention to that stuff. Just put in the range for each clock parameter - ie: hclock = 15-95khz . (You won't damage anything, it just won't sync. I have one of these, I know.)
-
There's also more than just MAME that I want to use (since AdvanceMAME stopped at I believe 0.106 or similar). There's a lot of arcade and retro-style freeware titles that actually look very nice with interlaced mode.
-
Hey, Calamity, I just wanted to know if any progress has been made.
-
Slowly figuring things out in ArcadeOSD. Only question left is this: what's the best way to set up a 24/25/26KHz horizontal resolution game for double-scan to still keep the natural scanlines?
[EDIT] Attempted to re-run VMMaker with the specs listed for the "VESA 1024x768 @60Hz" column. Is there any way to get non-double resolution modelines in 15KHz.

Hi NightSprinter,
I did read your monitor's manual, one of the most complete ones I've seen. Just need some time to focus on it.
Could you paste the settings you're using so far? Probably you need to create several different ranges for 15/25/31...KHz, that should allow creating all arcade resolutions without any line-doubling.
It would be fine if this thread could be moved into the GroovyMAME' subforum, it's not necessarily GM related but I'll make it easier not to miss it.

Go right ahead with moving the topic to the GroovyMame forum. I apologize for not responding sooner, work's been pretty busy at Walt Disney World lately. Here's a copy of the VMMaker.ini file.
monitor_specs_0 = "15625-65000, 40.00-120.00, 0.369, 2.092, 2.462, 0.090, 0.090, 1.110, 0, 0, 768, 768"

Could a mod move this to the GM forum, as per Calamity's request?
On that note, any update on what I might have done wrong Calamity?
