Title: Any good examples of thin LCD based cabinets?
Post by: Jakobud on February 03, 2012, 12:53:50 am
I'm looking to build a cabinet that has the style of a classic cabinet but is more thin so it takes up half the footprint.  Also I don't want it to be so tall and skinny that it could tip forward/backward.

This photo is from Mame Arcade Cabinet Builders page on Facebook. I believe the base is less than 8 inches deep.

I am making a similar one that will just play Atari 2600 games.

(...and thanks! I used plans from your website to make a few cabs)

I tried to strike that balance... I think I succeeded.

My cabinet is a slim design. It is very stable, even on carpet. It has a woodgrain finish but you could change that to your liking:

I'm pretty happy with how mine has turned out ( see sig).  Still a few things to do, but it's plenty stable.

Seen our slimline models mate? Same height/width as generic jamma cabs but so much slimmer and an angled lower sections add forward-tipping stability and more mounting room in the base.
