First off, I love MALA. Really looks and works nicely on my lowend system.
Second, I was able to get MALA Tree working tonight to help navigate different gamelists easily. I'm just using MAME as my emulator, so I have different gamelists like "Classic Arcade Hits" and "Sports" or "Fighters" and such. Very excited about this feature.
My question is that before I turned on the tree function, I was able to use different layouts, Gameroom being my favorite. But after turning on tree, only standard is available to me. I downloaded a bunch tonight in case Gameroom or the others I had weren't compatible with the tree function (Brilay, Cabinet1, Infernolab, Invaders, Mameroom, SFII...) but all were not available in the tree editor.
What do I need to do to enable additional layouts for use in the tree?
Thanks much!

Bump...
Is it even possible to do what I want?

Rando, I don't use tree but have looked into setting it up. I understood it to be possible but thought that you had to set each list up as a separate emulator. So even if they are all MAME you'll do a separate emu for brawlers than fighters for example. This will allow you to have a different layout for each one.
I don't know this to be correct but its what I've absorbed as "the way" so you may want to check that out.
Also, here (http://www.webwonderland.net/arcade/zebra_layouts.php) is an art pack that is using different layouts for different emulators, you maybe able to pick the method apart from the package. I'll hunt and peck around some more but let me know if you get anywhere with this.
Also, sorry for crossing threads, but any luck with Hi Score dat yet? Thats next on my list.

You set the desired layout for each list right in the mala tree editor. I forgot the exact process, but for each menu and list, there should be a drop down box where you select the layout. With Mala tree, you can have a different layout automatically pop up with each list/menu.
Hope that is what you were looking for.

Thanks Le Chuck, I'll look into that when I get home and see if it helps out. I haven't tested Hi Score yet, that comes next. So far I've failed Compile, I've got MALA Tree working but not satisfactory, and next is Hi Score. :)

Thanks Vigo,
That's exactly what I'm trying to do, but in the editor, the layout dropdown only shows "Standard" as available for each menu/list. I have other layouts, all stored in the "Layout" folder of Mala, but none show as an available option in the Tree Editor. if I turn off the Tree option, I can choose those layouts. I turn on the Tree option and enter the editor and I can't.
I'll keep poking around, thanks for feedback...

Hrm, thats not good. did you point the directory in Mala tree correctly?
Edit: I pulled this pic from another thread...

I'll check that Vigo,
I'm pointing to the layout directory in the regular MALA configuration screen, but if I need to specify it in the Tree Editor as well I haven't done so.
Guess what I'm checking as soon as I get home! :applaud:
*Cough* After I get the kids from daycare and home, change the baby, take my little girl potty, make sure the wife has a full glass of wine...
