Title: possible input bug in mame... Please confirm.
Post by: freppa on September 23, 2003, 10:00:08 am
I have noticed a possible input bug in mame. I'm using a hacked keyboard for inputs so I don't use the standard keymap. I've setup controllerfiles and they seem to work except for one thing.

In some games which I havn't played before, I get passed the legal nagscreen by wiggling the joy, but I can't get pass the following impefectsoundwarningscreen in the same way. It does work fine if I set joystick=1 in mame.ini, but not if it's joystick=0

If I get the game started using the above joysticksetting, I can start the game again without setting joystick=1, and everything is fine since the legal nagscreen is gone.

If I then delete the cfg file for the game I'm back at square 1.

It happens with several games, but the one I was testing yesterday was Teki Paki (tekipaki.zip). I don't think this occurs if you use the standard keymap (UI mapped to arrowkeys). I've tested it with smoothmame 0.71 to 0.73 and FastMame 0.73.

Can anyone else confirm this as a bug or is this a flaw in my controllerfiles?

/Freppa

Since I have always had joystick=1 I have not noticed this problem.  I will check it out sometime.
