Title: MALA is filling up my virtual memory
Post by: benll64 on January 28, 2012, 07:25:01 pm
Running Mala on Windows XP.

After using it for a while, running 5 or 6 games, it starts to get progressively slower until it freezes up. When I check the Windows Task Manager, mala.exe has ballooned up to 400+ MB.

Here's why I think it's happening: I'm running a 2.4 Ghz Pentium 4 w/ 512 MB of RAM. I've intentionally turned the xp swapfile off because I'm using a Compact Flash (CF) card as my hard drive. I don't want xp constantly thrashing the CF card as it will wear it out much quicker. I could add more RAM, but the motherboard can only go up to 1 GB, and I'm betting Mala would just fill that up eventually, too.

I don't want to have to restart my cabinet after every few games played, or turn the windows swapfile back on.

Any ideas? Is this normal Mala behavior? Or is there something wrong with it? The mala.exe file just seems to grow bigger and bigger as you use the program...
