Im in the process of collecting all my games and figured out i need alot more space then 2TB. Im looking to upgrade my system to an CORE I5 2500k but thats not the problem. Not sure about the Hard Drive setup. I will be running every emulator even future systems to come. Just my Wii iso's are around 6TB but i not using the emu for them. Should i go with an external 4 drive setup via usb 3.0 which i think is faster then eSATA. What does everyone recommend and what are you using. I also using Hyperspin FE

I have 1 500gb drive for OS, 4 1tb SATA drives and 1 2tb SATA. Eventually I'm going to upgrade all the 1tb drives to 2tb drives. All are hooked up internally... err, well they were until I gave up my MAME PC to my daughter for scholastic reasons and right now I'm PC'less. Thankfully I still have all my hard drives just waiting for a new PC.

Do you have a reason for considering external hard drives instead of internal?
As far as USB 3.0 vs eSATA, unless you are using SSDs you won't be saturating the bandwidth of either one so it is a moot point.

ok the reason for external drives is because i have a caberet cabinet not full size and have the motherboard mounted to the side wall of cab So instead of having 4 hard to mount hard drives (because i dont have to much room in cab) i came across an 4 drive enclosure via 3.0 usb where i can easily mount or just lay at the bottom of cab.

I've never tried this with mame, but I keep all my MP3s on a central server and just reference them from various other devices (Tivo, my Redio cabinet, my Mame cab and my workstation).
Works great for Music. I use Wireless N 300Mbps networking gear.
I'm not sure how mame would fair streaming the games over wireless though (ie keep all your Mame config and stuff local, but keep the games, vids, snaps etc, remote.
