Hi everyone,
Hoping someone can help.
Running a Arcade screen (15Khz), Mala front end, with MAME, Zinc and CPS3 emulators.
Have configured both MAME and Zinc to run perfectly at 320 X 240 resolution, but CPS3 wont run. If I run it at 640 X 480, then it runs fine...but that's an interlaced resolution, and I get screen flickering.
See attached files.
Thanks in advance ;D

My guess would be that the problem has to do with the fact that 320x240 is below the minimum resolution of cps3
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CP_System_III (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CP_System_III)
Cps3 stardard res is 384x224 with widescreen at 496x224. Of course like most arcade systems, this does not account for aspect correction. So corrected for aspect the minimal resolution for cps3 is 384x288, which is slightly higher than 320x240. Since that isn't a standard windows resolution, the developers probably just rounded up to 640x480.
Long story short, even if you could get it to run at 320x240 you probably wouldn't want to as it would cut out a lot of detail.

Thanks Howard for the help
But that didn't work. 384x224 failed to work.
384x288 would load the game, but the screen was scrolling vertically (like a sync issue)......I'm guessing that the resolution is close, but just off a bit. ???
Any more thoughts??
Thanks again

Yeah.... use 480i or get a new monitor. ;)
I'm guessing you have a standard resolution arcade monitor correct?
Max resolution for that is 336x240.... in other words cps3 games are extended res games, not standard res. I'm not a monitor expert... you might be able to get standard res monitors to support extended resolutions or some of the newer standard res monitors might support extended res, but afaik they don't.
I wasn't offering a workaround in my last post, I was explaining that there isn't one. Sorry.

You're a legend :burgerking:
336 X 240......worked.
Yes I'm running a CGA (15Khz) screen
Thanks for your help

Sorry for getting a little off topic but what is the benefit to using a standalone cps3 emulator when all of the cps3 games work perfectly in MAME? Is there something I'm missing?

You must have a fast computer. I'm only running a single core 3.6 Ghz CPU. Games ran very slow. What specs and version of MAME are you running.

Ah I see. My PC is celeron e3300 dual core 2.5ghz with 2gig ram. The mame version I use is mameui 32bit version 0.141

Maybe I should try a newer version of MAME??
