Title: Worth $60.oo?
Post by: CitznFish on September 22, 2003, 01:27:15 pm
Not sure if this is "rare". I don't think it is. I was planning on converting it to a vertical MAME cab.  But if It's rare i won't.  This is in ddition to my UAII Cab i am building. The deal came along so I couldn't say no.

have a favour to ask--before you mame--could you take a full picture of the cabinet from oblique angle (i.e. so side and front are both visible) as well as a top down center view of control panel--its for my mamewah skin--I don't have the cabinet view or the control panel view--thanks a whole bunch--just post em here--thx dude!

This is why i was asking if it was rare/unique. My third sentence above is" But if It's rare i won't. "

If i did mame it I wasn't going to remove the control panel..just use it as-is for Donkey Kong, Galga, Pacman, and anyother 1 button/4-way joystick vertical mame games..

and if I don't mame it I then have an original game for only $60.oo and that's fine with me too...

P.S. thanks for the link:  http://coinop.org/g.aspx/100351/Route_16.html

Its worth it.... IF.... you plan on using the monitor.   Otherwise, its only kinda worth it.

do you like the sideart/marquee?  Hows the wood (look at corners).

You will change the control panel probably... so that isn't as much of a deal.. but you might want to pull it up and see if you can swap it out (or if it's metal...harder)

But all in all... looks like a deal here.

That game looks pretty minty fresh to me. Just leave it alone and let it sit next to your Mame cabinet. I believe everyone who has a Mame cabinet should own a real machine or two anyways.

I'm going to SuperAuctions in October and I'll pick a few up there, but you're right..I'll prob. leave this one alone...

For my $.02

Don't mame this.  It's a fully functional, orginal game, completely inctact.  Find at least a Route 16 that's been badly converted to an Arkanoid. :)  I think you decided not to, but just in case you had second thoughts...

Personally I don't think MAMEing it as you described would hurt a thing.

Don't mame it.

For clarifican, the term "MAME" has nothing to do with removing the original pcb.  Putting a pc in that cab wouldn't be maming it unless you altered the monitor/sideart/wiring/cp ect to do so.  In other words a play on words... "mame" as in hack up, not the software itself.

Personally, though, I'd leave the pcb in it.  That's the most complete game in that age group I've seen in a looooong while.  It'd be a shame to monkey it up.

I would like this also!  Also pics of the instructions on the control panel.

Thanks!

I guess I counted my chickens before they hatched. Someone bought it out from under me. Offered the guy more money I guess...

I hope to god it wasn't somebody on this board...  >:(

DOH!  Oh well it was a worthy quest my son!  Look on the bright side--If you had listened to that route 16 music for any length of time you surely would have gone MAD! :P :o ;D

If it's a rare cab like the link says, no way I'd mame it.  Instead I'd restore it, and bring it back to life.  How many people can say they own this cab?  Whether or not the game is good, it's a unique piece of history, you've got to respect that.

If it works... and you like the game... keep it!  Originals are much better then a mame cab...

If it's a rare and special... but only to others (ie, you hate the game)... don't feel obligated to keep it... Try to sell it... if you can't... mame it.

btw... mame'ing it doesn't mean maiming it.  Get a jpac if possible and make it so you can plug the original back in... no harm done.

It's a moot point now anyway.  The Seller screwed me and sold it to someone else after we had a verbal agreement.  Basically it was on EBAY, I spoke with him and said I'd pick it up 2 days early and pay $60.oo and he would take the ad off EBAY. Someone contacted him and offered more money or something because he never removed the ad from ENBAY. Since no money changed hands there isn't much I can do. I am pissed off for sure. I had decided to keep it as-is...   >:( >:(
