Title: The Adventures of TinTin
Post by: danny_galaga on January 13, 2012, 08:40:22 am

What can I say? The animation is absolutely mind blowing, and the model work exacting. All through the movie you instantly know 'hey, an MP40 sub machine gun' or 'cool, a TR2 Triumph'.

However, having loved the books (and having enjoyed them as recently as about ten years ago, that is, as an adult) the movie just didn't do it for me. The 'ripping yarn' that were the books of old somehow didn't translate into the movie. Maybe if they had done 'The broken Ear', my favourite it would have worked better  :dunno

3.5/5  purely on the strength of the cinematography.

Been wondering when we were going to see some more reviews from you.  I finally sat down and watched a few I missed.  I think Real Steel has to be the flat out worst legitimate movie of 2011.

Well when the concept of your movie is based around Rock-em-Sockem robots what do you expect?  ;)

I'd agree with your review Danny. The animation was spectacular-- miles ahead of "The Polar Express".   I had a great time at the movie and I'm glad I saw it but something just seemed to be missing.   The Walter Matthau-looking sea captain was a riot though.

My wife and 10 year-old preferred Tin Tin to MI4.  I liked MI4 enough I could have walked back in and watched it again.   :dunno
