Title: Anyone ever sold one of your creations - MAME I mean
Post by: Dervacumen on January 06, 2012, 07:43:05 pm
Forget about the ROMs  as that's not the issue I want to address.  Has anyone ever sold one of their old builds?  I recently found out the relative of a friend tried to sell his machine and ended up giving it away after he received no offers for an extended period.
Reason I ask, I'm about to ditch mine to make room and rather than try to find someone who wants it for a song, I wonder if I should just take it to the dump after I rape it of it's innards.

I used to. I sold quite a few and it was easy up till a couple years ago. Now you're lucky to break even.

I've sold about 8 uprights and 2 bartops--As long as its solid, runs fine and looks good, you shoul dhave no troubles (depends on geography though)  My typical price is about $1,000 for an upright and $500 for a bartop.

Ironic though since the bartop takes the same amount of work sometimes...

I always sell my creations... :hissy:

mainly because I get this random offers. like 3x more than what it cost me to make it. plus I dont really like these new games(crappyfighter4 is horrible) so I dont really miss it. and I end up making another one within a week anyway. now a days its easier with lcd monitors. :burgerking:

2 but I think by your specifications, only 1 counts. I made money on the cab I sold with a PC set up for MAME on it. I sold the KI2 with the 32" vertical monitor for $300 but it was an KI2 cab, a TV, and an IPAC prewired, nothing else.
