Title: VAntAGE frontend for DOS ?
Post by: General Zod on September 19, 2003, 11:31:20 pm
Greetings,

Does anyone know if there is a frontend for VAntAGE? I've tried searching the forums and came up empty. Not a bad little emu, and now i can finally make some good use of an old pc. :-)

Thanks,

Michael

I'm pretty sure ArcadeOS supports Vantage, though I've
never tried it. Both programs were originally written by the
same guy (hats off to Brian Lewis).

Yep!  ArcadeOS has plugins for VAntAGE.

I didn't even know there were plugins for ArcadeOS. I've been reading the board and decided to give ArcadeOS and DOS a try in my tester unit, but I have a few older PC's around here I'd like to get some use out of again.

I recall reading on the board a few days back about Vantage, so I figured I'd check it out on an old P2-300mhz. Not to bad at all, and definitely a good setup for those looking to design a cab using an older PC that can play some of the early 80's classics. Hat's off indeed to Brian Lewis.

One other thing, is it me, or does the Ms.PacMan seem more like the arcade ver. in Vantage than in MAME? I realize it's being played from the same romset, but the sound is a little different, and the playability seems more like the one in the arcades. Maybe just my imagination. ;-)

Anyway, thank you both for pointing out ArcadeOS for Vantage.

Michael
