Title: Is there a "standard" size for marquees?
Post by: docrings on January 04, 2012, 11:38:24 pm
In designing my cab, I have a 8"H x 25 3/8"W area for a marquee.

I haven't found a dimension for a "standard" marquee, or plexiglass...

If there was a "most common" size for artwork, plexi, etc., I am at the stage I can make some dimension modifications...

What size did you use?  Did you have to re-size marquee artwork or have it custom sized?

Thanks,

My cabinet was originally a Centipede.  Its marquee is just under 6 x 24 (with the retainer the visible area is actually around 5.5 x 23.75).  But I think the custom designed cabs tend to dedicate a bit more space for the artwork.

My marquee is roughly 36" x 12". ;D

I'm gonna think Centipede is typical... and 36"x12" is gargantuous (!)   :applaud:

Maybe I need to think in ratios:  4:1  or   3:1.  Mine would be about 3.25:1, so in the ballpark  26" x 8" or so...

Thanks!

Mine is 5 3/4 x 28 3/4 and it doesn't look bad. I actually think that the size doesn't matter all too much. If you can make it look good, then more power to you. Thankfully free tools available on the internet such as gimp and sketchup are very helpful in making sure it looks good before you put tools to wood.

Yes, they are always no wider than the widest part of the cabinet.   8)
