Title: Dead alpha-numeric display (with pic)
Post by: AE35 on January 04, 2012, 05:11:42 pm
Hi all!

I've have some problems with my Pin-Bots right alpha display. Nothing is
on it. If I swap the first one over, it works. So, I've narrowed it down to
the either the display pcb or the glass. Since there's no components on
the pcb, I checked all the traces and they work. I then order another
glass, and solder that on. Still doesn't work.

Since I can find nothing wrong with the pcb(and there's no components
on it) I'm thinking about the odds of a new glass being bad 'out of the box'.

Here's a picture of it. In the bottom left side of the glass, there's a small window
with something in it...anybody know what that is?

Thanks!!

Perhaps the 'new' display was just a used one advertised as such and about to go out. Shipping just did it in?

I can't tell from the picture, but really make sure no solder points are touching, they look close at least.

That is what I was going to say, double check them with a magnifying glass.
