I'm about to pull what hair I have left out! I was lucky enough to have a guy send me the converted HD files of both Dragon's Lair and Space Ace. He took them from the HD DVD-ROM of both games. My problem is, I can't get Daphne to run them. It wants to download the older 20th Anniversary version video files. Now, there is a menu where you can check to use your own video files, but it then asks for a framefile. I acquired something I believe is this framfile but I'm not sure. I'm just looking for anyone who is currently running both these games in all their High-Def glory thru Daphne. Can anyone help me out???
Thanks,
Keith

I got SA-HD to work. Looks damn good too. ;D
The creation of a frame file depends on the extraction. Not all frame files are the same.
Was the conversion made with DVD2Daph, or did you extract with a different program?
If it looks like this:
1 sa-slates.m2v
148 spa00.vob.m2v
1162 spa01.vob.m2v
2306 spa01d1.vob.m2v
2341 spa01d2.vob.m2v
2342 spa01d2.vob.m2v
2390 spa01d3.vob.m2v
2449 spa01d4.vob.m2v
2450 spa01d4.vob.m2v
2490 spa01d5.vob.m2v
2582 spa01d6.vob.m2v
2627 spa01b.vob.m2v
2629 spa01b.vob.m2v
2630 spa01b.vob.m2v
2678 spa02.vob.m2v
3494 spa02p1.vob.m2v
3650 spa02d1.vob.m2v
Then you are on the right track.

I had Dragon's Lair working about 3 years ago. I bought the DVD version and pulled the files off. I think I had it running uder Linux. But I haven't touched it since then. Hmmm...you've given me new motivation...if I can find the DVD again.
Good luck with the HD version...that sounds nifty!

I spent more time getting it to work than I did playing it. The 30 second bootup time is a killer too.

Daphne original files on a PC CRT/LCD are tons more HD than the original ever was. I didn't like the look of the HD release art.

Actually this is not true. Captures from Laserdisc is quite poor and were about 540x480 (?) SD. I have captured both DL and DL2 and I only use them for DaphneX now, PC versions get the HD treatment, besides who wants to see SD crap on a 60" projection? Original 83 LD Colors are good but the image is dark. The HD versions are much cleaner and brighter. If anything Space Ace 91 has a better image from capture than 83. I did the same scrub for the PSX versions of Time Gal, which was a waste of time. GIGO.
I don't know what swap image Daphne uses for purchased content, but I would be surprised if it was captured at 720. The file size alone would be over 5gb compressed.
I was pleasantly surprised to see Time Gal out for Daphne recently. Nice to see that the Daphne Devs are still active. :applaud:
Do you think we will ever see Freedom Fighter? The CDi version is so poor.

I wouldn't mind having a current daphne ready to go dragons lair 1 and space ace. I have them now, but it seems like part of the scenes are cut in space ace (I can post a video). I have the DVD's which I ripped the video files from. If someone can PM me, I would like to talk to someone on either how to rip my DVD's so they work better, or pull their rips.
I have an older version of daphne and a batch file which launches daphne and dragons lair or space ace.

Depends what rom you use. There is a SAE rom created by Dave Hallock which puts the scenes in the correct order so the game place more linear. Also the moves have changed. SA changes the scenes in stock rom depending on the difficulty level you select. The simplest way is to get the DVDs from digital leisure and get the daphne 1.0 friendly captures by inserting the bought disc in to your PC.

Thats what I did. I still have the DVD. If I remember right, I had to buy a DVD that was the correct version (which I assume was 1.0). It plays in the correct order, but when it cuts from one scene to another, it cuts off the first second or so of the scene.

I can only think you have a bad download. Unfortunately Matt has gone for the P2P delivery system than from a mirror so it depends who was seeding the file, the quality etc. Dump it and try to get the file again. Yes I know it takes ages. ;)

No no. I meant that in the original cabinet, the image wasn't even progressive scan, and apparently was composite.
