Like many Im wanting to drop a few pounds and would like to incorporate exercise into video game playing. Has anyone seen a project where someone has converted a stationary bike to be used with motorcycle racing games? I mainly want to get the pedalling to be used for the analog triggers on a hacked xbox 360 contoller for the throttle. Anyone have any ideas on how to do this
-
no, but I like the idea a lot
Hacking the analog controls is tough, haven't heard of anyone successfully doing it yet, but I'm sure it can be done
can you give a little more info on what you'd like to do
I'd be willing to help if I can
I'd like to see the steering done with the handlebars and have the throttle/trigers on there too
found this http://technabob.com/blog/2010/01/15/hook-an-exercise-bike-up-to-your-xbox-360/ (http://technabob.com/blog/2010/01/15/hook-an-exercise-bike-up-to-your-xbox-360/)

This is a pretty cool idea.
Sort of off-topic, but some fun can be had by hooking a dancepad
(like the ones that Kraft was giving away way back) as a 4-way stick
and buttons and playing something like Track-and-Field.
Also makes Pac-Man more interesting too.

I really liked this idea, and did a little more searching and found the Cyberbike for the wii (http://www.amazon.com/Cyberbike-Magnetic-Nintendo-Wii/dp/B0058CSF8E/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1326072586&sr=8-1) $200 for the bike and software and it is supposed to work with any racing game that uses the traditional controller (gamecube)
But what I really wanted was one for the PS3 or 360
I found out that the same company makes one for the PS3 (bluetooth no less) but it hasn't been released stateside yet, we found it on the german amazon site (http://www.amazon.de/BigBen-Cyberbike-2-inkl-Fahrrad/dp/B005FLPTKK/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1326072749&sr=8-2) for $182 us shipped (pretty good) and it should arrive by the end of january, I'll report back then **crossing fingers** hope it comes through undamaged, it too is supposed to work with any racing game

Wasn't there a 90's prop cycle arcade game? Possible mame tie in?

well after posting this i started getting real busy so I have done nothing with it but i now have some free time and was wanting to get something started.
Bender. That link to the the ps3 cyber bike seems to be the way to go and even if the bike ends up sucking I should be able to adapt it to a better one. Have you got one? How is it? Would it work with GT5?

I was thinking of a governed spinner for dial input.
