Title: Another Sound Problem Question on the Rowe R86
Post by: Megaoldman on January 01, 2012, 02:19:58 pm

O coarse I have just aquired a R-86 and seemed to have solved most of the problems that has come with it. However there is no sound control button on the machine anywhere(usually on back). I really looked well. There are some red and black wires cut off inside the amp cabinet area which I think maybe from the original sound control. I can hear the amp humming when the record is playing and when I push down on the outer can control I can hear a loud clicking sound as the amp is attemping to make sound. I guess my question is if I do not have a volume control will I still get uncontrolled sound from the machine or is this my problem. All thoughts or ideas are welcome.

I found any old volume pot (volume control knob) in the garage in a drawer and I hooked it up to the volume screws and voila sound and lots of it. The R-86 has kick butt fantastic bass sound. I'm a happy guy. Thank for allowing me to sound it out.

Hi,

Make sure that the volume control is a 10k ohm log control.
