Title: Dowloaded Live games and Profiles
Post by: SavannahLion on December 28, 2011, 05:08:32 pm
I'm a little confused on this minor detail. My wife just purchased a 360 for the "family" and it came with a free downloadable game from Live. I don't particularly like the game choice but the wife picked it out... Whatever.

My Profile (I'd like to find the ass that took my name) is the "Live" account while the others are on the HDD. Here's my Q. If I download a game do the other profiles have access to that game or do you have to be logged in on the profile that downloaded it to play it? Assume I'm not roaming and it's all on the same console.

I could be wrong but I believe that XBLA games and DLC are only available to the profile that originally downloaded them.  They are also somehow tied into the console as well which stops you from just using your profile on another machine and having full game. (IIRC it just turns it back into a demo version).

Hope that helps  ;D

Anyone can use the game on the console it was downloaded to.  When you buy an XBLA game you essentially get 2 licenses -- one for your profile and one for that specific console you download it to.  You can also transfer the licenses to new consoles if needed.

Oh I understand. That's kind of important because I don't have any desire for my 11Y daughter to be futzing with the Live account and my 4Y son figured out how to pay for, and download, new games on the Android. I don't think it's too much of a stretch he can figure it out on the 360.
