Title: My introduction
Post by: Ridgefire on December 20, 2011, 08:22:40 am
Well I've been reading these forums for sometime now and I realized I've never really introduced myself. I admit I am a huge lurker and most times I forget to even log in.  :dunno But the amount of knowledge on this board is amazing and bit overwhelming. I can spend hours and hours just reading. I can only hope to repay what I have learned here. Alright where to start? OK I live in North East Lower Michigan, I work full time as a 911 dispatcher, I am also a volunteer fire fighter/EMT.  I've always been into computers and games. Some of the best memories as a kid were going to the local arcade and spending a weeks worth of allowance in one shot. What started as a dream to once again play some of these old time games has lead me down a path of Mame. My cousin sold me an empty cab and off I went. I had an old desktop laying around, I used an old 25" TV that's been in the basement for years, downloaded the last version of Mame...After a few  moments I can now relive part of my childhood. Too bad I have a teenage son who doesn't understand the concept of bad graphics, cheesy plot lines.  :laugh2:

Welcome aboard.

Sounds like a good way to get started.

You never know about your son. He may just end up getting into it for the build process itself.
My 7yo daughter loves soldering, so who knows...  :)

Welcome and THANKS for being a vol FF.

my kids hate classic gaming as well (In favor of Minecraft ???) but they're super into the building/carpentry.  I want my kids to be even better at soldering and building that I am, kids often don't get that these days.  Get him into the shop with you.
