Title: Newbie with Rowe R-86

Hi guys i recently purchased a Rowe R-86
When I turn on the jukebox, the Transfer Motor starts immediately.
The gripper takes a record from the magazine and put it on the turntable (that doesn't start to turn).
The tone arm comes in place, and goes back again. The gripper takes the record and puts it back in the magazine.
This happens over and over again.
The CCC only shows the 8vcd light, same thing happens in service mode and i cant choose any selections or anything.
I have ordered the service manual and am awaiting its arrival.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi I have a R-86 also.Mine did almost the same thing as yours and it turned out to be the CCC board.Replaced it and it was fine.

do you think it was the whole CCC board or just the 8418 cpu chip?

I am missing the board assembly does anybody know where i can find one?Or can I jump out the harness somehere to make it work?

I did an exchange with AB Jukebox Repair (Bruce Wentworth) 56 Old County Rd,Plaistow,NH 03865 Tel.(603) 382-6272.You send him your board and he takes out the lithium battery which is corroded by now,and the foam backing on the back.He essentially upgrades the board.It cost $150.00 plus exchange.Give him a call if you are located in the states.His web site is www.abjukeboxrepair.com (http://www.abjukeboxrepair.com).

If you in the USA I agree with Bob, Bruce Wentworth is you best bet.

If you are handy with a solder iron and solder remover you can buy the new aftermarket CCC chip from cdadapter.com, install it in your CCC board and remove that old battery before it kills the board completely. This will save you money and it works well I installed it in my R-86. I bought it from Ann Marie at cdadapter.com. They offer fast service and a good product that I know for sure works. There are instructions included to explain everything if you are at all handy. But before you go out and spend money on replacement parts check and recheck all of your plugin connections and boards for broken solder connections. Clean your switches etc. Then when all else fails read the service manual.

hi Megaoldman,

The battery has already been removed and a supercap put it place , looks like someone has already put a 40pn socket in for the ccc chip , i had some advice on another forum to change all the transistors out , i did that but still have the same problem , i have checked and cleaned and reflowed all the pins and sockets.
Guess the next step is to buy a new CCC chip .
i have the field service and parts manual on the way.

Hi Clint,

Have you checked out the Pricing Board out for dry joints on the top and bottom connections?

All lines of data go through this board which should be regarded as just a connection block.

More than likely that you may need to replace some of the ic's on the CCC rather than your custom chip.

Your are in Australia if I remember correctly. So you could send in the CCC to me in UK or  Bruce Wentworth in the USA.
