Hi all,
I've searched this forum and attempted to get some answers on the proper method for putting car speakers into an arcade cabinet, my apologies if you've all heard questions like this before. I just picked up a Lepai LP-2020A+ amp rated at 12v and I'm planning to use this along with a pair of 4.5" car speakers to replace some existing PC speakers. The specs on the Lepai LP-2020A+ amp is as follows:
Model Name: LP2020A+
Frequency Range (Hz): 20Hz - 20kHz
Out Power: 2*20W
Item Size: 12*14.7*4.2MM
Item Weight: 0.3 kg
Input power: 12V 6A DC
Input sensitivity: 200mv
Speaker impedance: 4 - 8ohm
Input impedance : 47k
Signal noise / ratio : >100db
Minimum THD : <0.05%

Can anyone provide some recommendations on the type of speakers that might be suitable for this amp? So far I'm looking at the following models from Crutchfield:
Sound Ordnance™ P-40 - http://www.crutchfield.ca/Sound_Ordnance_P_40_4_2_way_Speakers_Mylar_Tweet_p/777p40.htm (http://www.crutchfield.ca/Sound_Ordnance_P_40_4_2_way_Speakers_Mylar_Tweet_p/777p40.htm)
Kicker DS40: http://www.crutchfield.ca/Kicker_11DS40_4_Coaxial_Speakers_p/206ds40.htm (http://www.crutchfield.ca/Kicker_11DS40_4_Coaxial_Speakers_p/206ds40.htm)
Kicker KS40: http://www.crutchfield.ca/Kicker_11KS40_4_Coaxial_Speakers_p/206ks40.htm (http://www.crutchfield.ca/Kicker_11KS40_4_Coaxial_Speakers_p/206ks40.htm)
I'm learning towards the DS40's or P-40's but would like a second opinion. Also would like some ideas on how to deal with EMI, I saw a few recommendations in other threads on pipe end's or steel cups. If EMI is going to be a major issue I do have a plan B and may just go with traditional shielded 5" speakers from Happ Controls but don't know how good they are.

i would be more concerned with finding a suitable power supply for that amp. 6 Amps is a tall order. especially the nice clean variety needed for audio.

most speakers are going to sound lousy jammed up inside a cabinet not pointing towards you. but there is no right or wrong answer. You only have 20 watts (read that as 15 or less if you don't have a nice regulated power supply to feed it.) it's likely any speaker you hook up is going to sound the same.
any of these speakers will sound better than the HAAP, as the ones you provided are coax and have a tweeter and crossovers built in. all the HAAP speakers are full range. typically mediocre in sound reproduction and meant for replacing speakers in public cabinet where they will get poked and beat to hell.
yes Virginia, you will have to shield those speakers.

Thanks for the response lilshawn, my bartop already has a 600w PSU installed for the computer components but there was never any intention of hooking the Lepai LP-2020A+ directly to the PSU. Instead the amp comes with a wall wart power supply that I will plug directly into a power bar that I have installed in the cabinet so I think I should be alright on that front. From your comment below, based on the three speaker links that I provided there really isn't any advantage sound wise? I'll get the same sound quality from all three units? What about impedance (Ohms)? I saw some comments in other threads saying that I should be looking for 8 ohm rated speakers instead of 4 ohm. It looks like the amp can handle both so should I really be concerned on the type of speaker I choose? Finally, found a few people selling Copper Foil EMI Shielding Tape would that be good enough to shield the speakers?

i hadn't realized it came with a power supply.
the amp is designed for 4-8 ohms of load, so car or house speakers is fine. car speakers are typically 4 ohm to make amplifiers a little more efficient. home speakers are 8 ohm... well since they have been forever. besides, car speakers are cheap, so use them.
foil will not shield the magnetic field from a magnet. foils are designed for high frequency changes in small 10-50 gauss magnetic fields from electronics or wires that might introduce noise into video or audio... not the 1000 gauss produced from a speaker magnet. you are going to need an iron mass of some sorts to absorb the feild, like you mentioned, a metal cup or iron pipe end.

You should not have to worry about interference from your speakers as your cab uses and LCD. It is CRTs that hate big magnets. The noise in the 12V power should be resolved as you have a wall wart to supply your amp.

I'm in just about the same boat.
I picked up a PYLE 2x75watt amp off ebay for 30$ and will be using it to drive 2 Kenwood home speakers (from a 5.1 set I pickedup off CL), plus the sub.
Interestingly, the sub is NOT shielded but the little 5" speakers are (thick metal cup around the magnet).
That Lepei looks like a nice amp too, and smaller!
