hehe... I have a set also... I have them ready to go in my cab... but I haven't build up a control panel for them yet.

when I bought mine... the guy who shipped them did it with only newspaper (and not much of that) and broke all the encoder wheels... and bent another piece.... annoyed me big time...

ended up getting some oscar wheels (he still has some for steering wheels I believe... might be a special order)..

good luck!

(and now I feel like I should get mine working this weekend...)

Hmmm... the wheels look pretty similar to the ones found in Happ trackballs....

Would the encoder wheel in a Pole Position steering wheel assembly work nicely in a hacked USB mouse hack for use in Mame?

Basically, Anyone try this for a Pole Position steering wheel assembly and have luck making it work nicely?

I'm assuming it will.  Remember the Happ trackballs are licensed from Atari, and it would maake sense from an economic point of view that Atari would use the same optic boards and encoder wheels in their optical wheels.

When I get them, I'll plug them into my mouse hack harness and confirm it.
