Title: Got another question about IPAC on consoles
Post by: Aberran on December 19, 2011, 06:38:12 am
Can the extra two buttons on the IPAC 2 32 input card be used on consoles.  I see the mapping on the Ultimarc site does not include them. I was wondering if this is because the maps are for the old 28 input board.  I can't really understand why not to include the extra two switches.  Maybe I am just really missing something.  If so you could easily map all the buttons to one side minus playing dual stick of course. Having DPAD and Analog right on a toggle off the shift button is just as good to me. No one uses both those on a game at the same exact time anyways.  If you use both on a game at all beyond menus.  Also home button on a shift ... well even start select and home on a shifted button would be more than fine for very similar reasons.

Not saying that R3 and L3 are used in any game I know that can be played well without analog controls, but you would have plenty of buttons for them at this point anyways.

Any button connected to the I-PAC can be used as any console control using our adaptors. You can assign the controls as required using WinIPAC on a PC.
Its usually necessary to do this even for a fairly standard panel because there are far more controls on a console controller than on an arcade panel so you need to pick and choose, although you can use the I-PAC shift function to map little-used controls such as "start" to control combinations.

Thanks Andy I plan to have start, home and select like buttons on shift and also direction combinations to alternate the behavior of the stick between dpad and right stick ... not planning on playing many twinstick games that I can't already play on my pc but they might exist and I will just have to adapt for them when the time comes
