Title: ArcadeOS and mame
Post by: Velcro on June 14, 2002, 06:16:59 am
I looked everywhere for an answer and found only more people with my problem but no solution. Here it is, I run ArcadeOS and windows mame (too many reasons why I'm not using DOS mame) and when I run a game from ArcadeOS everything is good, it's when I exit that it minimizes ArcadeOS until I click it or Alt+TAB. But that is not the ideal solution for an arcade cabinet.

Does anyone know how to make AOS pop itself back up after running a game?

Thanks

So you have AOS running full screen and every thing is fine. You pick a game to run and everything is fine. You press the escape key once, and when the game exits, AOS minimizes?

I don't have that problem with AOS. Are you running AOS from a .pif file? Check to make sure it's set to "full screen" and maximized.

CHECK!

I am running it from a shortcut file that is placed in the startup menu, but yes fullscreen and maximized are CHECKED!

If I were you I would forget about ArcadeOS.  It's not that good.  Id look elsewhere for a better frontend ( GameLauncer hint hint).

That's because both of these fe's are dos-based.  Try a true windows front-end (hint hint).

(Yes I know gl is now ported to dos, but the author hasn't really optimized it for windows yet.)

Hmm, I seem to remember this problem. Try starting a DOS windows, and set the properties by right-clicking on the top of the window. I don't remember exactly which setting it was, but I'm sure trial and error might get you a long way. :)
